  • Alberto SANNA


Alberto Sanna has a degree in Nuclear Engineering and is the head of IRIS – Innovation and Research in Life and Health Services at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milano (HSR), Italy.

Since 1989, he is involved in HSR healthcare process re-engineering projects and in charge of several automation projects, designing and realizing robotic workcells for Patient-safety and Operator-safety critical processes, e.g. in Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Laboratory, Pharmacy, wards and bedside.
Since 2000 he has been head of IRIS Unit and active in several European R&D Projects as coordinator of DRIVE-DRug In Virtual Enterprise (end to end process re-engineering of the pharma value chain, from manufacturers to bedside) and PIPS-Personalised Information Platform for Life and Health Services (multichannel platform to release personalized e-services for preventive medicine and healthier lifestyles). Participation to other R&D projects includes: PRIME-Privacy and Identity Management for Europe; ANGEL-Advanced Networked Embedded Platform as Gateway to Enhance Quality of Life; PITVISION-Personalized Interactive Television (personalized medicine services via edutainment formats); MASTER-Managing Assurance, Security and Trust for Services; eCUBE-Efficient and Eco-sustainable Energy (with a particular focus on green hospitals)

He is Professor of Intelligent and Mobile Systems for Innovative Services at University of Insubria, and holds international patents in the field of health innovative technologies for the Smart Hospital.
