- KLAUSS KUMMERER
Klaus Kümmerer studied chemistry at the University of Würzburg and later Tübingen from where he received his PhD in Chemistry. During that time he also acquired deep knowledge of ecology. He is currently professor of environmental chemistry and environmental hygiene and head of the Applied Environmental Research Section of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Freiburg University Medical Centre.
In 2009, he won the Recipharm International Environmental Award for his work on pharmaceuticals in the environment and development of sustainable solutions for society and the pharmaceutical industry.
